UK opens up graduate visa route for Indian, global students
The UK Home Secretary Priti Patel announced the country has opened work visa for international students, which would offer post-study for overseas graduates from India and other destinations the option to apply for the right to stay on for job experience after they finish their university courses.
When students complete their graduate program post that they can apply to stay in the UK to look for work for at least two years. In order to avail benefits of this visa the student must have obtained a degree from a recognised UK university. Under the UK Government's points-based immigration system, international students now have the opportunity to kick start their careers in the UK at all different fields. Patel also said that in 2020, over 56,000 Indian nationals were granted a student visa by the UK. This is also an important step forward in UK-India 2030 roadmap. It was launched by Indian PM Narendra Modi and UK PM Boris Johnson in 2021.
