No Sale" Protest to be observed in Kolkata due to the rising fuel rates.

Due to the unprecedented rise in the fuel prices across India and especially West Bengal, fuel retailers in Kolkata have decided to shut down their operation for 30minutes on the 7th of July from 7 pm to 7.30 pm. This has been termed as a "no sale" protest against the rising prices of fuel.

West Bengal Petroleum Dealers' Association joint secretary Prasenjit Sen stated that fuel prices may touch and cross the Rs 100 price point any day

He further stated that while the fuel prices are growing, sales have been down by 25 to 30 percent. This comes as a shock because due to the lockdown most people are using personal vehicles.

"Diesel sales are down by over 50 per cent in the state," said Prasenjit Sen.

Moreover, with the steep increase in the petrol prices, the commission remained fixed which has impacted the income of fuel retailers. This has also made small petrol pumps to shut down completely.
